The 5 Love Languages

Join us Sunday at 10am as we learn about the 5 Love Languages.  I have seen these principles revolutionize marriages.  They even translate well to your relationship with your kids.  This will be invaluabe for any couple or family that wants to strengthen their relationships and create a lasting, meaningful love.

Relational I.Q. - Relationship Series

For the rest of August and into September we'll be exploring how we can up our Relational IQ.  Nothing is more important to most of us than our relationships.  So join us as we learn how we can strengthen all of our relationships.  You may be shocked to learn that some of your attitudes and actions are hurting your relationships and you didn't even realize it.  Most of us don't!  So we will let Scripture guide us as we endeavor to take the necessary steps to grow our friendships, marriages, relationships with our kids, and our connection to God.

What's the point?

What's the point of having a church?  You know, that's a question I've pondered most of my adult life.  There are a lot of different precepts about church out there.  Some surround the idea of purposes such as worship, evangelism, ministry, fellowship, and prayer.  I agree that all of these are absolutely important, however as the years go by I am becoming increasingly concerned about our "inwardness" concerning these purposes.

Lost & Found Update

Hi everyone!

I just thought it would be a good idea to drop in on the website and let you know what's been going on with the Lost & Found lately!

Running from what you need most.

Human nature is a strange thing.  Our nature often works contrary to our personal good.  This is most obvious when it comes to how most Christians respond in times of duress.  I have observed that more often than not, when a person goes through a very trying time, the most common reaction to the life stress is to stop coming to church.  I have often wondered why this is so.

Walk a Mile

I've been thinking about criticism a lot lately.  Yeah, I get criticized a bit.  Every leader does....but that's not the main reason I've been thinking about it.  I've been pondering it because I'm as guilty as the next guy of easily falling into the trap of criticizing others that I feel are making bad decisions or who aren't measuring up to my standards.

Good Friday and Easter at Urban

Friday at 1pm, Urban and Love Life Family Christian Center will combine to host a Good Friday service.  So take a lunch break and join us.

If you don't have a church in mind to visit for Easter, come spend Sunday morning with us.  We have 2 Sunday services at 9am and 11am.  Come as you are...no need to dress up.

GOOD FRIDAY - 1pm
EASTER - 9am & 11am

EVERY SUNDAY - 9am & 11am

How did we get the name "Scruffy"?

I'm surprised I never blogged about this before.  How did we come up with this whole "scruffy" thing?  Well, it's actually kind of an interesting story.  It all started out as something that we took initially as a minor insult.

Urban will begin a 2nd Sunday morning service!

It's been a great fall and winter for Scruffy.  We have seen an influx of new people and most Sundays, we're full up during our 10am service.  God has really been moving and drawing people.  It's been very exciting.  With all this great news we're going to start offering a second Sunday morning service.  So beginning EASTER SUNDAY, Urban will change from a 10am service to having 2 services at 9am and 11am.
