Christmas ARK - All Season Long!
The temperature is dropping... the heat bill is going up.
Christmas lights are going up... so are gas bills...
Bank accounts will be emptied... if they ever were full to begin with...
At Urban, we're committed to spreading Christmas cheer, and showing God's love in practical ways to people this Christmas season. And this year, we're not just going to be about God's business one afternoon, or Christmas Eve only. We're creating opportunities for you to get involved all through the rest of the Christmas season!
Some folks have submitted ideas - along with others that we haven't done in a while, plus new ideas I'm finding with the help of Pastor Tom and our church board... and we're gonna find a way to do them all... and maybe even more!
Anybody want to gift wrap at a local store for a few hours?
How about pass out hot cocoa and Christmas cookies to the firefighters collecting donations for the Goodfellows this Christmas?
Ever taken a plate of cookies over to a neighbor you don't even know or really talk to?
What about giving hot chocolate and cookies or donuts to people working on Christmas Eve?
Caroling at a Nursing Home?
Doing something nice for a friend of a friend who is having a hard time this Christmas?
We have a chance to make a real difference in our community this Christmas... all over the place... in many ways! And you'll be the ones doing it!
Email me... or call me... let me know this week what you'll do. Maybe it's just buy the hot cocoa for others to mix & deliver... maybe it's make deliveries only... maybe it's go caroling to a nursing home... with just your family or friends... even others not from Urban! Let's get the community involved!!! Why does this have to be just AN URBAN THANG!!!! In fact, it's not supposed to be! God called us to connect the disconnected. I can't think of a better, more practical way to connect the disconnected from Jesus Christ than to get them involved in showing God's love in a practical way this Christmas season!
Will you do it? Will you get on board the ARK this Christmas?
Pray about it... You know what? Don't pray about it... Just do it! You'll be glad you got involved this Christmas!

Helping out someone who needs cheering up.
Can anyone do highlights for a fellow church member. I took her to get her hair colored (it was free), but highlights were more. Unfortunately I couldn't afford it. If anyone could help out someone who is having it rough this holiday email me at kahmas@yahoo.com. Thanks so much!
Ideas
I wonder if we are the only family without any family in town for Christmas. We celebrate at Thanksgiving. So wondering if we had other solo families meet at Urban to whip up hot chocolate and donuts and the give everyone a list of 2-3 businesses to deliver to before the Christmas Eve concert? We like that idea from the message last Sunday and will be doing this as a family regardless, but just wondering if there are others without family obligations interested in doing so.
