Lost & Found Update
Hi everyone!
I just thought it would be a good idea to drop in on the website and let you know what's been going on with the Lost & Found lately!
We've recently finished a series we have been in for several months in our weekly Lost & Found hangouts, and are now learning more about God and the Bible from the book of Romans on Wednesday nights. Our last few meetings have been really cool! We have had good discussion, but also a lively atmosphere, where everybody can be themselves, and not have to worry about what anyone else thinks!
In fact, our studying in the book of Romans has kind of reminded me of what going to youth group was like when I was a teenager and first attended a youth group at the local Presbyterian Church. The first times I went to youth group we were reading something called the Roman Road. In short, it's a handfull of scriptures pulled out word for word from the book of Romans in the Bible that seem to fit together nicely in a couple of paragraphs, that helped me understand that we are all sinners, and nobody is perfect, but that God loves us so much that he created an opportunity for us to be forgiven and have a chance to live in heaven forever. And not only that, but for me to have peace in my own heart and life... which for me was something I was really wanting at that particular time in my life.
So needless to say, it hit me pretty hard the other day when I realized that we are going through a study with the teens at our church that I first learned from, and really made an impact in my life to make a conscious decision to try to follow jesus' teachings for the rest of my life.
I find that I'm having fun with this group of teens, and it's really something I'm thankful for to have the chance to be a part of God's plan to help them learn more about him and maybe make the same choice I did as well at their age.
We just had our latest youth event last night, skating at Skate World in Troy, and I have to tell you... It was a blast! Sure, I am sore today, cause I haven't skated in 16 years! But I saw everyone having a great time, in the unique way that teens do. It was cool to be a part of that.
Well, besides studying in Romans, we've got different events coming up in the next few months, including a movie night, an overnighter and a new ARK (Acts of Random Kindness) opportunity as well. So if you're a teen, or if you know of a teen who wants to get plugged in with a group of teens who are studying to understand what God is all about, or just need a place to hang out with a crowd your own age, come check us out each Wednesday night at 7pm at Scruffy Church! We'll be glad to have you by!
See you at Lost & Found!
